Yorkie Specific Info
When will my puppy’s coat color change?
All breed standard Yorkies are born Black & Gold (Tan) and their coats can start to change, or ‘break’, anywhere from 3 months to 18 months. When the coat 'breaks' the black should lighten into a steel blue and the gold (tan), which starts out black, should grow in solid gold as the puppy ages.
Are Yorkies good for people with allergies?
Yes, Yorkies do not have fur like other dogs. They have hair similar to human hair. This reduces dander and shedding making them ideal for people with allergies.
Is it difficult to maintain the long Yorkie coat?
The long coat is required for showing Yorkies and requires special care, but if you do not plan on showing your dog you can keep them in a shorter puppy cut.
Do you dock tails and remove dewclaws?
Yes, all puppies have their tails docked and dewclaws removed between 3 and 5 days old.
Do you sell Gold or Parti Yorkies?
We try to adhere to AKC Breed Standard. It is possible that a puppy could have non-standard coloring.
